I'm kind of a nerd, but that's the way I like it.
I had an excellent high school history teacher who taught me that we don't have "freedom" in the United States of America, we have independence, and that independence is "freedom with responsibility."
Voting the party ticket because everyone you know and trust is voting the party ticket, no questions asked? That's irresponsible. I worked with an extremely batty woman during my call center days... I left work one night and she was smoking a cigarette. "I've had such a horrible headache today," she said. "I did my hair this morning, sprayed it all over with hairspray, and then I realized it was 'OFF!'. I've been smelling the fumes all day!"
1. Her hair was big, so it required a lot of spray.
2. She didn't wash it after realizing her mistake??
3. And then she was smoking? It's a wonder her head didn't go up in flames like a giant bouffanted hand grenade.
God, that's awful! Maybe she was too embarrassed to call in to work with something like, "Yeah, I accidentally sprayed MY ENTIRE HEAD with insect repellent. I'm gonna be a couple hours late."
